Witkoff told American commentator Tucker Carlson on March 21 that Ukrainians living under Russian occupation want to be ruled by Russia. This echoes Kremlin talking points used to justify the annexation of Ukrainian land. Zelensky called Witkoff’s statements “very disturbing”.
**Ukraine Fights Against Russian Disinformation**
Zelensky said that Ukraine is fighting against Russian disinformation and propaganda, which he believes is influencing some US government officials. He noted that Russia has a large territory and a powerful military, but Ukraine will not back down.
**US Support Appreciated, But Concerns Remain**
Despite being grateful for US support, Zelensky expressed concern about the influence of Russian disinformation among US officials. “We are fighting for ourselves and will fight these narratives,” he said.
