**Ukraine Strengthens Cyber Defense**
On March 27, Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, passed a bill to improve the country‘s ability to fight cyberattacks. This law aims to protect state information and critical infrastructure from online threats.
**New Cyber Security System**
The new law creates a national system to respond to cyberattacks. It sets up teams to deal with these attacks at the national, sectoral, and regional levels. These teams will work together quickly and efficiently during a cyber crisis. This is in line with the EU’s NIS2 directive.
**Response to Cyber Threats**
Ukraine has been hit by many cyberattacks since Russia invaded the country in 2022. The new law is a response to these threats, including a recent attack on Ukraine’s railways. It ensures that all levels of government apply consistent standards when dealing with cyber threats.
**State Oversight**
The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection will oversee this new system. This means they will make sure everyone follows the same rules and guidelines.
**Law Passed by 240 Votes**
Member of parliament Oleksandr Fediienko confirmed that 240 members voted in favor of the bill.
