US Response to Georgia Situation Revealed
The US State Department has responded to a question about its position on the current situation in Georgia.
A journalist from Global News asked State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce: “Have you had any communication with the ruling party in Georgia? If so, could you share what type of communication exists between you?”
Tammy Bruce replied with an official statement. The US continues to evaluate its approach to Georgia to advance American interests.
The statement reads: “We have made it clear that Georgia’s government can take steps to show they are serious about improving their relationship with the US.”
The State Department is unhappy with the Georgian Dream government’s actions, which it sees as anti–democratic. The US supports democracy and freedom of speech.
The US has a long history with Georgia, being its partner for 33 years. It has supported Georgia’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity throughout this time.
