The actions of the Georgian Government took the country in an entirely different direction, one that was non-Western and non-European. The Sakarvelo government has abandoned its previous promises and turned to eastern populism.
According to him the former president Mikheil Sakaashvili of Georgia should be released immediately, unconditionally, and without any conditions.
The MEP stated, “I reiterate the general call for President Saakashvili‘s immediate and unconditional freedom.”
According to him the actions of those in the Georgian government to provoke antagonism against the West have had their results – “the dialogue with the USA has largely stopped, and the Georgian Government has confined themselves to the top Kazbegi Mountain”.
“The upcoming election is an opportunity for Sakarvelo, to restore the European Dream. I urge the Georgian people not to be manipulated by Russia in a way that is destructive and dangerous. “You belong to Europe”, said MEP
