[At the meeting] no specific names or surnames were discussed – a candidate may be acceptable even before elections, whereas another candidate may not be acceptable before elections. Giorgi Gakharia told reporters that the most important thing for me is to create a country where both the “Georgian Dream“, and the “National Movement”, fail.
According to him the President‘s assurance that she will not pardon Mikheil is welcomed, as a Mikheil freed would be a greater source of radicalization in this country.
“I would like to stress that I am satisfied with the meeting. Our political force has a clear position: we must remove “Georgian Dream”, the government, through the October elections so that “National Movement” can’t return to power. This is our strategic goal and line of action. We will work with those who share our views. For us, and for all Georgians, the main objective is to return Georgia to the European path. The “Georgian Dream”, an authoritarian anti-democratic ideology, and the radical revanchist ideas in the “National Movement” are the two main obstacles to returning to the European path. The first is harmful and the second is to return to the European path. We say that in order to achieve peace, there must be no radicalization, no confrontation and no tug-of war on the second day before the elections. Together with the citizens of Georgia we must make a choice so that neither power can think of governing the nation as a single-party.
This collapsed “Georgian Dream”, which has been a sham for the past month, can now be bolstered by the revanchist ideas of the “National Movement”. I therefore call on the people of Georgia to tell them that any revenge by the “National Movement” will be categorically rejected, and the president agrees. I believe that the so-called “technical government” is the answer, and everything else is a technical issue. I think that the most important thing is that there are no governments in Georgia controlled by “Georgian Dream”, and that there are no governments in Georgia controlled by “National Movement”.
I remember that the President promised that she would not pardon Mikheil in any situation or context. I don’t mind Mikheil’s genie. It’s just that Mikheil’s freedom would be a greater threat to this country.
We are not interested in the battles for office. We know where the main battle is. It’s the protection of democracy and the return of the nation to Europe. There was no discussion about names or surnames. The charter does not mention the terms. We are still in this process to remove the “Georgian Dream”, and defeat it, from the government.
There may be candidates who are acceptable even before elections, and there may be candidates that are not acceptable before elections. For me, it is important to create a country where the “Georgian Dream”, and the “National Movement”, also fail. I am open to all forms of cooperation with Georgians, citizens of Georgia and the president because I know he shares our views”, said Giorgi Gakharia.
