The Presidential Office announced that on October 9, President Volodymyr Zelensky and Croatian Premier Andrej Plenkovic had signed a bilateral agreement for support and cooperation.
This is the 27th bilateral contract signed between Ukraine with a partner since a joint G7 Declaration during a NATO Summit in Vilnius, July 2023.
The agreement included cooperation between defense industry and Croatian assistance for demining as well as a condemnation of Russia‘s war as “unprovoked and unjustified.”
The agreement stated that “Croatia is unwavering in their commitment to support Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.”
Croatia also offered to provide its expertise and support in the care of veterans and prosecution of war crimes.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in Ukraine, Croatia has provided 300 million euros ($330 millions) in assistance including 11 defense packages.
Zelensky arrived to Croatia for the Southeast Europe Summit. He held bilateral negotiations with the leaders of Albania, North Macedonia Greece and Slovenia.
The parties to the summit adopted a joint statement that reiterated their commitment to Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and condemned Russia’s aggression in “the strongest possible terms.”
Zelensky will meet the leaders of the U.K. France and Italy in the next day. The Ramstein format meeting in Germany has been postponed because U.S. president Joe Biden canceled his overseas trip.
