The CEC chairman Giorgi Kaandarishvili confirms the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had requested the election administration to close the polling station located in Israel.
According to Kalandarishvili the agency sent this statement to the CEC in Israel on 8 October, where it discusses the risks associated with creating an election precinct in the city Ramat Gan.
According to him the CEC will discuss this issue and then make a final decision.
“On 8 October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote to us, containing information about the risks and circumstances related to the issues relating to the election precinct in Ramat Gan, Tel Aviv. The commission is informed of all the factors that could be a concern for them in regards to the preservation of the voting station. At the next meeting, we will have a full discussion on this and the commission will take a decision”, said Giorgi Kaandarishvili.
When asked if Israel had also addressed the CEC about the mentioned issue, Kalandarishvili replied that “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs” receives such notifications.
“We are guided based on the information provided by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.” “We don’t know how much information they were given”, Kalandarishvili stated.
