On 9 October, Ukraine’s An-178-100R was launched from Ukraine and landed in Poland’s Bydgoszcz Airport.
Zbiam reported that the prototype of the Ukrainian An-178-100R transport aircraft successfully flew to Poland. According to the Polish airport press service, the aircraft landed at Bydgoszcz’s Ignacy JanPaderewski Airport in Bydgoszcz on 9 October.
Since Russia’s full-scale invader of Ukraine in 2022 the An-178 was not publically known. The An-178’s flight from Ukraine into Poland confirms that the aircraft survived Russian airfield attacks over 2.5 years of the ongoing war.
Militarnyi points out that the An-178-100R’s flight originated in Ukraine, but its transponder, which allows it to be tracked, was only turned on over Poland. The AN-178-100R, which will be arriving at the Polish airport in the near future, will join a Ukrainian aircraft owned by the Antonov State Enterprise that is currently being mothballed and awaiting its fate.

The Antonov State Enterprise was awarded a state contract for three AN-178 aircraft by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, on 29 December 2020. The production of these military transport planes began in January 2021.
Initially, it was planned that the first production AN-178 would be delivered to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense in the spring of 2023. The full-scale conflict has affected the work done by the Ukrainian aircraft manufacturer.
