In a phone conversation with Chinese president Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia was ready to negotiate with Ukraine.
Before that, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had invited Putin to the negotiating table.
“I want to appeal to the President of Russian Federation again.” Fighting is taking place all over Ukraine. Let’s get down to the table and negotiate. Zelensky said, “Stop these deaths.”
The BBC reported that Sergei Lavrov said Moscow is ready to talk “as long as the armed forces in Ukraine respond to our request and lay down their weapons”.
“He told reporters that Russia did not intend Ukraine to occupy, and that their goals were clear: demilitarisation and demazification.
“Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian President, had said earlier that Russia was trying to ‘destroy Ukraine political by destroying its head of state.’
“According to information we have, I am the number one target. The BBC reported that “My family is target number 2.”
