Metro Production’ director claimed to have produced a video in of the electoral campaign. He said that several Metro Production employees worked as freelancers to film the GD election campaign ad. However, they claimed that they were unaware that the video was the ruling party. According to media reports, the employees were told that the video was being made to promote tourism in Batumi.
of Metro Production uploaded the video on his personal page on 10, just a day after the new campaign ad was released by the ruling party. “This video clip was shot under my direction, with an invited group freelancers,” wrote Bochorishvili. His post immediately sparked discontent that was reflected in comments. Some employees, angry at being involved in the filming without knowing the true purpose, announced in the comments that they would be resigning.
The video is notable because of its positive and upbeat tone, which contrasts sharply against GD’s negative ads. The video shows a giant Georgian Flag floating through various locations in the country, while promoting themes such as peace, dignity and prosperity. The video also includes the faces of everyday people, including children. It is unclear if they were aware of its true purpose or if they were also deceived.
“It’s sad that a project was made in the company where I worked for four years about which we had no idea.” I would have made my decision faster and easier if I knew,” wrote Sandro Javakhishvili on social media when announcing his resignation.
Sali Nikolaishvili (senior director) also announced on Facebook her resignation, but did not specify the reason. It appears that it is for the same reasons. Eka Kipiani, the creative director of the agency, has also left along with other staff. The walkout is reported to have been large.
