Davit Zalkaliani, Vice-Prime Minister of Georgia, met with Zbigniew RAU, his Polish counterpart. They discussed the successful Georgian and Polish cooperation, and Poland’s active international support on important issues such as Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic ambitions, as well the occupation of its territories and regional safety.
During the meeting, the importance of Poland’s support of both Georgia and Ukraine during the upcoming NATO Summit was highlighted in the context “open door” policies.
The Minister also reviewed security in the region. He stressed the importance of peace for the stability of the region. He also spoke about the situation of the occupied territories in Georgia and the ongoing processes in Ukraine.
Foreign Minister Zalkaliani informed his Polish counterpart about the current political process in Georgia, and the signing of this agreement. The Polish Foreign Minister, for his part, expressed satisfaction at the signing of the accord by the ruling team, as well as a number representatives of the opposition. This reaffirmed that Georgia’s democratic progress is irreversible. Rau, on behalf of Poland reiterated his support of Georgia as a friend and key partner of Poland in the region.
