Israeli strike on Gaza school-turned-shelter kills 28, medics say

The Red Crescent reports that at least 28 people were killed an Israeli airstrike on a school in central Strip housing displaced families.
The medical organisation reported that the attack on the school Rufaida al-Aslamia, which is located near its headquarters in Deir al-Balah, injured more than 50 other people.
A video of the scene showed people running towards the injured in a cloud smoke and dust. Meanwhile, several were being treated at the al-Aqsa local hospital.
The claimed that the “precise strike” targeted militants who were operating inside a school’s “command-and control centre”.
Hamas has denied the claim that it deliberately abuses civilian infrastructure.
Gaza’s Hamas put the death toll also at 28 and condemned what it called a ‘new massacre’ by the Israeli military.
Since the Gaza war began a year ago, many schools have been converted into shelters to house the .9 millions who fled their homes.
The Israeli military launched an offensive to destroy Hamas as a response to the group’s unprecedented attack against on 7th October 2023. In that attack, approximately 1,200 people died and 251 were taken hostage.
According to the health ministry of Gaza, more than 42,060 deaths have occurred in Gaza since that time.
