The man [Darcho Khéchuashvili] faced 18 years in prison and at that time, he tried to enter Georgia illegally. How can someone take such a risk if they are not coming to Georgia for another task? Irakli Kobakhidze, Georgian Prime Minister, responded to the information that was spread by the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, Mikheil Sakashvili had assigned Darcho Khéchuashvili to spy on Givi Targamadze.
According to his assessment there are only 2 weeks until the elections and the state must be extremely cautious to ensure that the election process is conducted without any provocations.
“The details are fascinating, this most severe provocation occurred a few days prior to the direct elections. Of course, it’s an interesting detail. This person may not admit to his guilt, but he reaches out to those who are connected to the “national movement“, which includes a high-ranking official of the Ukrainian government. This requires further investigation and caution. Imagine a person who is directly threatened with an 18-year sentence, and then crosses the so-called “green border” and tries entering Georgia illegally. How can someone take such a risk if they are not coming to Georgia for another purpose? This is only a guess, but the rest of the story will be determined after the investigation.
This fact shows that we must exercise maximum caution. The election process will be conducted in a calm, unprecedented environment. There are only 2 weeks until the elections. Everything must be done for the process to end calmly. We need to avoid serious provocations. This is still being discussed in the offices of the “National Movement” collective. Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the state would do everything possible to prevent any provocation in these two weeks.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Darcho Khéchuashvili was promised a good job in Odessa if he tracked the politician down and provided information about his movements.
According to Amiran Guluashvili at the briefing at the prosecutor’s office, Mikheil Sakaashvili, the third President of Georgia, had instructed Darcho Khechuashvili on how to monitor and control Givi Targamadze.
