The Pentagon and White House have held high-level discussions after the Pentagon and White House were alerted to the sighting of unidentified aircraft in Virginia‘s restricted airspace.
The War Zone website reports that US military officials were concerned by the 17-day streak of unidentified drones flying over Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, in December.
This incident follows on from other recent drone-related concerns, especially in Europe. Unidentified drones were seen flying regularly over a secret German base in July 2024 where Ukrainian soldiers were receiving training for combat. The drones were reportedly suspected of being part of Russian efforts in order to monitor and possibly demoralize Western support to Ukraine.
The incident in Virginia reported to President Joe Biden has left authorities unsure whether hostile powers or amateurs conducted the flight.
