On the International Day of Rural Women (15 October), women farmers from Samegrelo and Upper Svaneti, supported by UN Women and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, shared their insights and experience from the FAO Farmer Field Schools. The program was designed to improve women’s leadership and agricultural abilities, which in turn will lead to their empowerment.
UN Women Georgia shared the news on social media, educating the public about the importance of this day and the need to support initiatives relating to gender equality.
The initiative provided participants with vital farming techniques and sustainability knowledge to positively impact their community. The immediate result was an expansion of local food production.
