Anna Tsitlidze is the chairwoman of “Unity – National Movement’s” Zugdidi branch. She has accused high-ranking officials running a “forcement headquarters” to suppress opposition voters.
According to her, the operation, allegedly headed by the head the Samegrelo Regional Police, Giga Zashvili involves confiscating identity cards of citizens who are opposed to the government in Senaki and Zugdidi in order to prevent them voting in the upcoming election.
Tsitlidze, during a briefing held in Zugdidi named several individuals who she claimed were involved in the operation. These included police officers and local government workers. In Senaki, the individuals are: Badri Gonginava (regional police officer), Butkhuzi Siria(head of Nosiri Police Department), Kakha Chaava(head of Zani Department), Bezhan Guinia, Monika Vasileva Soso Matakheria Dato Sajaia and Tornike Djijeishvili.
In Zugdidi, alleged organizers are: Dato Shengelia, (commander of “Forest Brothers”) Gia Kalichava, (police officer), Gizovekua, (activist of “Georgian Dream”) Irakli Jikia, (employee of Ministry of Internal Affairs), Lasha Vekua, (patrol policeman).
Tsitlidze warns that her party has evidence and plans to give it to international organizations.
She urged the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MoI) to take immediate action to remove these individuals. She stated that her party “Unity – National Movement” expects to win in Samegrelo as well as across Georgia at the upcoming elections scheduled for October 26.
