Secretary General Rutte: NATO will do whatever it takes to ensure that Ukraine prevails

In comments published by Reuters on October 14, Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that NATO would not back down from Russian threats and will continue to support Ukraine.
“The message (to Russian president Vladimir Putin) is we will continue. We will do whatever it takes to ensure that he won’t get his way and that Ukraine will triumph,” Rutte stated during a joint interview on October 13 with Reuters, German radio Hessischer Rundfunk, and Dutch television RTL.
As the presidential election nears, despite Rutte’s assurances there are growing fears about the future of Western aid. Donald Trump, the Republican nominee and former president of the United States, said he wanted to “get out (the U.S.).” This sparked fears that he would withdraw or scale back support.
The secretary general of NATO made these comments during his first trip to the allied mission in Wiesbaden, . The mission, NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine(NSATU), will take over coordination of Western aid for Kyiv.
According to Reuters the body is widely viewed as a way of safeguarding assistance in case Trump returns. , under U.S. president Joe , has led the pro-Kyiv alliance, providing the largest volumes of military supplies.
“We are NATO. “We are a defensive alliance… We are not interested to capture any part of another country outside NATO territory,” Rutte said.
We are ready to face any threat as this alliance, which is the strongest military alliance of all time, serving over 1 billion people. We will not be intimidated by our enemies.
