“The Paralympic Committee made significant progress over the course its history.” The beginning was difficult, with only two sports and just three athletes. Our Committee now boasts over 200 athletes in fifteen different sports. This is a remarkable accomplishment. Our Committee’s main objective is to provide people with disabilities with unrestricted access to sports opportunities. This will facilitate their integration into by participating in athletics,” Revazishvili said.
He noted that over 200 para-athletes had the opportunity to participate in a variety of sporting events including the Paralympic Games and European and World Championships. They also participated in various other tournaments conducted under the auspices the Paralympic Committee. These athletes were able to achieve an impressive feat in 2022. They won 61 medals out of which 19 gold, 15 silver and 27 bronze.
Revazishvili then went on to emphasize the need for an extensive program to train and develop coaches. A group of initiative was formed under the umbrella of the Paralympic Committee in order to coordinate the development and implementation of documentation, programs and training materials for the education and training of coaches and disabled individuals at bachelor’s degree level.
