Irakli Kobihidze, Prime Minister of Georgia, believes that the information spread by the State Security Service needs to be given special attention.
Irakli Kobakhidze said that the State Security Service provided important information to society. “We’re talking about political forces who don’t want the best for our country. It is both forces from outside and forces inside the country. I believe that such acts will not influence the election results. However, it is good to see that our state agencies are vigilant, especially the State Security Service. It is important to take special care to ensure that there are no negative influences on the elections. In this regard, we should thank the State Security Service, for providing important information to the general public, so that they could be more cautious,” said Kobakhidze.
In the interest of state security and peaceful cooperation of citizens, we wish to inform the public, that according to information received, groups associated with political circles are planning, in the days leading up to the upcoming parliamentary election in Georgia, to distribute false video and audio recordings, installed using artificial intelligence and other technologies.
According to the State Security Service “the fake recordings mentioned will use the voices of representatives of the Georgian Government. Spreading false information has the purpose of provoking a confrontation between branches of government, assuaging the feud between government and Orthodox Church, and worsening the relationship between government and Western partners.
“The disseminators present the fake records that they created as information leaked by the State Security Service. They assume that this action will, on one hand, discredit and discord between the government branches. The main purpose of this provocation is to artificially incite and stir up a protest charge to create focal points of destabilization within the country that will be used for political reasons. State Security Service said that they were closely monitoring the activities of these groups. If there is any violation of law, the appropriate measures will be taken.
