The support is intended to ease the suffering caused by Russia’s attacks by providing basic needs, such as heating and water during the cold winter.
Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Stenergard has announced that the Nordic and Baltic countries have decided to offer Ukraine a winter energy assistance package.
This support and the support already allocated for next year will strengthen Ukraine’s capability to provide electricity, heat, clean water, healthcare, education, and any other critical social or civilian infrastructure.
As can be seen from the Swedish Government’s website, the Nordic-Baltic partner countries announced their decision following a meeting in Odesa, on 14 October, between Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sbiha and colleagues from Sweden and Denmark, Estonia, Iceland and Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Finland.
Stenergard stated that Russia’s attacks against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure had serious and extraordinary implications, especially at the eve before winter.
