CEC Chairman Giorgi Kaandarishvili, in a conversation with journalists, responded to the statement made by the State Department press spokesman Matthew Miller.
According to him this is expressed in the creation of relevant working platforms, relevant legislative amendments and other measures that comply with European and international standards.
“Transparency and openness in public activity is a prerequisite for fair and free election. The institution has been declaring this for many years in order to ensure a inclusive process, as well as in the direction of ensuring access to activities.” This is demonstrated by the creation relevant work platforms, legislative changes and other actions that meet European and International standards. It also serves to ensure the voting day is administrated according to international standards. This was also highlighted by the assessment made a few days back by the American Ambassador in relation to the leader of the election administration team and her team. The interim report on the pre-elections in the European Union also highlights this. The institution’s technical and professional preparedness, transparency, openness, and steps taken to ensure inclusiveness, transparency, and accessibility are highlighted. This is especially true in relation to voting day when, in terms of technology intervention, all questions have been answered. Giorgi Kalandarishvili said that there was manipulation or speculation in relation to CEC in previous years.
Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US State Department said that the United States of America would “closely monitor” the elections in Georgia. Miller said, “We want fair and free elections in Georgia. We will closely monitor these elections in the coming days.”
