BBC reports that a powerful earthquake struck a large area in south-eastern Turkey near the Syrian border. It killed more than 100 people, trapped many others and trapped many more.
The US Geological Survey reported that the 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck at a depth between 17.9km and 11 miles near the city Gaziantep.
Officials in Turkey confirmed that more than 76 people have died so far, and that 10 cities, including Diyarbakir, were affected.
State media reported that more than 50 people died in Syria.
The death toll is expected to rise dramatically in the next few hours.
