Prodrone, a Japanese drone manufacturer, plans to supply Ukraine with cutting-edge industrial robots for humanitarian demining.
Nikkei reports that Prodrone, an industrial drone manufacturer in Japan, plans to supply Ukraine its drones to demine humanitarian areas.
Tokyo has helped Kyiv with mine clearance efforts in the past. Japan provided four ALIS systems for searching mines, and 50 metal detectors. In addition, Ukrainian experts have received demining training from Japan.
Prodrone plans to supply Ukraine drones that can operate 50 cm above ground. Ukrainian specialists will develop their mine detection technology. This is expected to include artificial intelligence and allow a drone to mark detected landmines on an interactive map. The Japanese company hopes to start drone deliveries to Ukraine in the next year.
UkrInform reports that Prodrone manufactures unmanned aircraft for high-resolution aerial monitoring of specific land areas, such as construction and mining, inspection of infrastructure objects, such as bridges, dams and tunnels, as well as cargo transportation and logistics.
Shigeru Ishiba delivered his first speech to the Japanese parliament earlier today. He warned that “today’s Ukraine could become tomorrow’s East Asia”, and expressed concern about a divided world.
Ishiba said that the security situation in Asia is “the worst since the end World War II.”
