The march “Georgia Chooses European Union” is planned for 20 October in Tbilisi

On October 20, Tbilisi will host a large-scale “Georgia Selects the Union” march, which will begin at five different locations before ending in Freedom Square. The event is intended to support for Georgian pro-European ambitions ahead of the crucial parliamentary elections on Oct. 26.
Participants will gather in five designated starting places at 17:00. These are: Republic Square; Square of Heroes; the Aragveli Obelisks in Ortachala; and the intersection of Amagleba Street and Street in Mtatsminda. The marchers will then converge on Freedom Square at 19.00 for a closing event that will include musical performances.
Saba Brachveli is a representative of Civil Society Foundation, and one of the organizers of the event. She highlighted the importance of this march in reaffirming the country’ commitment towards the European Union. Brachveli told InterpressNews that the upcoming elections were a critical moment for the to affirm their commitment to the European Union. He said that the march is meant to remind the public about the nation’s pro EU stance, which had been overwhelmingly supported in the mass held earlier this year.
Despite the fact that the march is organized primarily by civil society, it is expected that politicians and public figures will participate. Brachveli said that although speeches may be , they will focus on issues related to Georgia’s and the elections.
The event’s focus will not be on the number of attendees, but on showing support for Georgians on their European path. Brachveli said: “We invite everyone who is interested to join the march.” Celebrities and other influential figures are actively encouraging participation via social media campaigns.
