On October 20, Tbilisi will host a large-scale “Georgia Selects the European Union” march, which will start from five different locations before ending at Freedom Square. The event is intended to rally support for Georgia’s pro-European ambitions ahead of the crucial parliamentary elections on 26 October. The march is organized by a coalition non-governmental organisations.
Participants will gather in four locations to begin the march towards Freedom Square at 5pm.
* Republic Square
* Heroes Square
* 300 Aragveli Square
* Marjanishvili Square
The Civil Society Foundation, organizers, and representatives of the march all stress the importance of the march for reinforcing the commitment of the country to the European Union. They also add that the march is meant to remind the public about the nation‘s pro EU stance which was overwhelmingly backed during the mass demonstrations earlier this year.
The event is said to be a show of support for Georgians‘ European path.
Despite the fact that the march is organized primarily by civil society, it is expected that politicians and public figures will attend.
