The Westminster Foundation for Democracy, with the support of UK government, is proud to announce that COP29 knowledge sharing sessions will be launched in Georgian media and civil societies. This training program will equip journalists, producers and media specialists as well as civil society representatives with all the information and tools they need to report effectively on COP29, and its importance in the global climate change landscape.
The two-day event will take place on October 19-20, 2020. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the obligations of state under COP29 and the role of media in covering this event. They will also learn about the importance of civil societies engagement in addressing climate issues. The training is designed for participants to gain both theoretical and practical knowledge about setting global climate goals, reviewing progress of countries, and the crucial role media plays in educating the public.
The knowledge-sharing session will be interactive, with 25 regional and national media representatives and civil society representatives attending. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, and also interact with international and local expert. Discussion topics will include:
* The global significance and objectives of COP29
* The commitments of nations to combat climate changes
* The role of media in covering climate change issues and COP29
* Media and civil society organizations (CSOs), can contribute to climate resilience.
The program will provide participants with an overview of the current Georgian climate situation, and offer insights into the country’s efforts to meet its climate commitments.
