After drone strike in Bryansk, a Russian electronics plant is reported to be on fire

According to Russian and Ukrainian media, the “Kremniy El”, microelectronics factory in Bryansk, Russia, caught fire following a drone strike by Ukraine overnight on October 19.
“Kremniy EL”, one of the largest microelectronics factories in Russia, produces components that are widely used in Russian defence production. These include Pantsir air-defense systems and Iskander rocket systems.
The plant is located more than 100 kilometers (about 60 miles) north of Ukraine’s northern Sumy Oblast. It was attacked at the very least once, in August 2023.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that its air defense had shot down 13 Ukrainian drones overnight, six in and two in Rostov Oblast. One was shot down over Belgorod Oblast. The ministry reported that four more drones were downed by the Russian air defence over Bryansk Oblast later in the morning.
Russian media published videos taken by local residents showing at least one explosion, and smoke plumes rising above the factory.
Alexander Bogomaz, the Governor of Bryansk Oblast, reported the fire that broke out in a “nonresidential building” after the Ukrainian attack. He claimed that the fire was extinguished by Russian emergency workers. He reported no casualties.
Bogomaz said that later in the morning, a second “non-residential” building was hit by Ukrainian drones in their second attack on Oct. 19. There were no casualties. He said emergency responders are working at the site.
At the time the article was published, the Ukrainian authorities had not made any comments on the attacks.
