Salome Zurabishvili, the Georgian president, urged citizens to take part in the European March. She stressed the importance of rejecting polarizations and hatreds. She urged the public to calmly express its desire for Georgia’s independence, freedom, and a European future.
In a press conference, President Zurabishvili urged the Georgians to participate in the upcoming European March and Elections. She assured the public that they mattered and warned them not to give in to fear, intimidation, or rumors about electoral fraud. The President stressed that the future of the nation depends on this moment, and urged citizens unite in support of peace, development and the European path which she described as being the only way forward.
“This is an important day, because our stability depends upon it.” The most important thing for the people is to come out calmly, and show their desire for the country‘s return to freedom, to independence, and to a European future.”
Zurabishvili addressed public concerns about possible electoral fraud and urged them to reject fear in order to participate in peaceful elections. She said that the upcoming election and march are crucial steps towards ending one-party rule in Georgia and polarization. The President emphasized the need for unity as Georgia pursues the path of education, peace, and development. He stressed that this journey should not divide the nation, but rather unite it.
“We will refuse to accept one-partyism and will say goodbye. We will also say goodbye polarization and mutual hatred because the path that we are on is a path of education, peace and development. “I will be there tomorrow, and I will also be there then. This charter… will lead us towards the goal of European free democratic Georgia”, said the President.
