In a letter addressed to President Biden by US Congressman Mike Turner, he called for a “immediate briefing” at the White House on reports of North Korean involvement in Russia’s conflict against Ukraine.
Mike Turner, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee emphasized that the United States should “make any possible involvement of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine a redline”.
Signed earlier this year, the “strategic partnership” has led to increased military cooperation between Russia & North Korea. If confirmed, it would be North Korea’s very first direct military action in Europe. This could have a major impact on global diplomatic dynamics. Since Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine in the year 2022, North Korea is increasingly supporting Russia by providing weapons, especially artillery shells, missiles, as well as diplomatic backing.
“North Korean troops attacking Ukraine on Russian territory or entering Ukrainian territory must be a redline for the United States of America and NATO.” Turner wrote to President Joe Biden in a letter that your administration must make this absolutely clear and unambiguous.
