Ukrainian forces claim that they have intercepted four guided missiles and 42 Russian drones. However, the attack has still resulted to civilian casualties as well as damage to critical infrastructure across multiple oblasts.
Overnight, Russian forces launched an air assault against multiple oblasts in Ukraine. More than 100 air targets were detected, including 98 drones, and six Kh-59/69 missiles.
Russia continues to target civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. This includes energy facilities. They disrupt power, destroy buildings, and cause civilian casualties. Ukrainian air defenses intercept a large portion of the incoming threats. However, the attacks continue posing serious risks to both civilian and military targets throughout the country.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has claimed to have intercepted successfully 42 Russian drones as well as four Kh-59/69 missiles.
The drones were reportedly downed in nine different oblasts including Odesa and Cherkasy. They also included Kirovohrad (Kyiv), Chernihiv (Chernihiv), Poltava, Mykolaiv and Kherson.
Ukrainian defense forces use aviation, anti-aircraft units, electronic warfare, and mobile firing groups.
The Air Force has reported that 46 Russian drones have been lost in the past and are currently being located. Information about them is being clarified.
Despite defensive efforts, some attacks penetrated Ukrainian defenses resulting in injuries and infrastructure damage.
One woman injured in Kyiv by a Russian attack
According to Vitali Klitschko of Kyiv, a woman from the Darnytskyi District in the capital was hospitalized when a drone fragment entered through a balcony.
One woman killed in an attack by the Russians in Cherkasy Oblast
The Cherkasy Oblast Military Administration has reported that a woman who was born in 1961, died of injuries she sustained during a strike in Uman district.
A drone attack on a warehouse in Cherkasy Oblast damaged the object and injured a person.
Russia injures 8 people in Sumy Oblast
According to the Office of Prosecutor-General, which has launched an investigation into possible war crimes, the Russians dropped three guided airborne bombs in the central part Shostka.
In Sumy Oblast, this strike caused eight injuries and damage to an educational institution, medical facility, the premises of several institutions and residential buildings.
The State Emergency Service (SES), reported that their local unit had been directly targeted. Five rescuers were injured and emergency vehicles were damaged.
Kherson Oblast, which is preparing to confront Russia’s envoy Mechkov about the drone strikes that killed two Ukrainian relief volunteers, restricted foreign aid workers’ access to areas under constant Russian shelling on 5 February.
