The Russian authorities claim to have intercepted 16 Ukrainian drones. The strategically important Kremniy Plant in Bryansk was allegedly targeted.
According to Russian Telegram channels, the Kremniy Plant in Bryansk (Russia), a major microelectronics producer, was attacked by drones overnight on October 19.
This is at least the fourth drone attack on the facility. The plant is well-known for producing components used in military equipment such as the Pantsir missile complexes and air defense systems.
According to the Bryansk Oblast Governor, a fire started as a result the detonation an explosive device from the drone that was downed in the attic a non-residential. According to reports, there were no casualties.
Residents in the area have reported an attack on the Kremniy Plant, even though local authorities haven’t confirmed it.
The Kremniy EL factory is a major player in the Russian microelectronics sector. In 2017, the Russian Ministry of Defense was said to have purchased 94% of the production of the company. The facility is used by major players in the defense industry, such as Almaz-Antey and Aerospace Equipment.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has claimed that 16 Ukrainian drones have been intercepted over night in Russia. 13 were shot down over Bryansk Oblast; two over Rostov Oblast and one over Belgorod Oblast.
In an effort to reduce Russia’s military power in its war with Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces regularly target Russian military bases or oil storage depots.
