Irakli Zarkua, Georgian Dream’s MP, condemned the opposition-organized march to Tbilisi. He claimed it was aligned with LGBT propaganda. He questioned if “honest” citizens would support the LGBT community participating in what he described as a march to promote Georgia‘s growth.
Zarkua suggested that the march is being used to promote LGBT propagandists, and urged citizens to reconsider their participation.
“Do you know that alongside this ‘Pride‘, next to the men with a hairstyle, that is together with the LGBT community members, you are also invited for a discussion about the development and tomorrow of Georgia?”
Zarkua said that he believed many people, especially Georgians who value their traditional customs, wouldn’t feel comfortable attending a rally involving LGBT issues. He said that this would result in a further drop in opposition support as citizens would distance from such events.
“How can an Georgian man, known for his hospitality and customs now hold a joint action with LGBT propaganda and ‘Pride’?”
He thanked the organizers who helped “illustrate the differences” between Georgian Dream and the opposition. He also highlighted that many people had stopped supporting opposition parties because of their alignment with LGBT activism.
“I would like thank the organizers for allowing us to once again show society the difference between this LGBT community and us.”
