The Georgian Chess Federation announced that Lionel Messi had sent a T-shirt autographed to Nona Gapindashvili on her 80th birthday. She is a five-time World Chess Champion.
Nona received the gift from Akaki Iashvili. He is the Vice-President for the International Chess Federation.
Lionel Messi sent a Tshirt with a Spanish message to the Georgian champion, Nona: Happy birthday!
“This gift came as a surprise to me, but I am also happy that my name appears in the words Happy Birthday, Leo Messi. This T-shirt will replace a special exhibition in my museum,” said the Georgian Champion.
Nona Gaprindashvili is a Messi and Barcelona fan. She has been for many years. The Argentine footballer learned about the surprise from FIDE leaders. FIDE Vice-President Akaki Iashvili was the main initiator.
