The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office announced on October 17 that a Ukrainian lawmaker was charged with illegally enriching himself by more than Hr20 million ($485,000).
Ukrainska Pravda, citing reliable sources, reported that the SAPO had not named the individual, but it was Iryna Alakhverdiieva, from the Servant of the People Party of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
SAPO stated that the suspect had acquired the sum in 2021 and 2022, which was more than her official income. She also bought a home in Odesa via a third-party.
The suspect’s income and savings reported during the same time period did not exceed Hr 2.7m ($65,000).
If she is convicted, her sentence could be up to 10 years behind bars. She would also lose the right to hold certain jobs for up to 3 years.
