**Ukrainian President Zelensky’s Approval Rating Surges**
A recent survey shows that around 63% of Ukrainians approve of Volodymyr Zelensky’s actions as president. This figure is higher than in previous polls, both before and after Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The poll was conducted between November 2024 and January 2025 by the Identity and Borders in Flux project, in partnership with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS). A total of 1,600 respondents took part.
**Most Ukrainians Approve of Zelensky**
Around 26.1% of those surveyed said they fully approve of Zelensky, while another 36.9% said they tend to approve of him. This is a significant increase from previous polls.
Only 14.4% of respondents fully disapproved of Zelensky’s actions as president, with 18.3% saying they tended to disapprove.
**Zelensky Remains Popular**
A total of 73% of those surveyed said they consider Zelensky an “intelligent person”, while 63% called him a “strong leader”. This shows that he remains the most popular Ukrainian politician, leading in polls for the future presidential election.
Around 26-32% of Ukrainians are ready to vote for Zelensky in the first round, significantly outpacing his predecessor Petro Poroshenko, who polled at 5-6%.
**Zaluzhnyi Emerges as Possible Challenger**
Another popular figure, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, has emerged as a possible contender for the presidency. He is currently serving as Ukraine‘s ambassador to the UK.
However, he has not yet voiced any political ambitions.
**Trust in Zelensky Increases**
A separate poll published on Feb 19 shows that around 57% of Ukrainians trust Zelensky, an increase of five percentage points since December.
