Solidarity Rally for Mzia Amaglobeli
A rally is taking place near the back door of the Georgian Parliament. The people attending are there to show support for Mzia Amaglobeli, a journalist who was unfairly arrested.
Mzia Amaglobeli’s friends and colleagues are also at the rally. They want the government to release people who were wrongly detained. Journalists have brought banners with messages like “Free Mzia” and “Free the Political Prisoners”.
A woman named Keti Devdariani spoke at the rally. She said that Mzia Amaglobeli is a symbol of how unfairly some people are being treated in Georgia.
The police are there to keep an eye on things, but they are not interfering with the rally. People want Mzia Amaglobeli to be released and for justice to be done.
Mzia Amaglobeli was arrested on January 11th in Batumi. A judge decided that she should be kept in jail until her trial. She is being charged with assaulting a police officer, but many people don‘t think this is fair.
