Two Politicians Leave Meeting with Election Commission
Giorgi Sioridze, a member of the “Strong Georgia” party, and Boris Solomonia, a representative of “Girchi”, left a meeting with the Central Election Commission.
The two politicians got into an argument with the chairman of the commission, Giorgi Kalandarishvili. They claimed that the elections on October 26 were unfair and should be held again in two months.
Sioridze said that Kalandarishvili was working for the “Georgian Dream” party, which won the election. He called Kalandarishvili a “notary of the Georgian Dream”.
Kalandarishvili cut off Sioridze’s microphone and said that he was not going to listen to his complaints. He said that infrastructure projects had nothing to do with the election.
Sioridze left the meeting and accused Kalandarishvili of being an illegitimate chairman. He said that the commission should declare the elections invalid and hold new ones.
Kalandarishvili said that Sioridze was trying to disrupt the work of the commission. The secretary of the commission, Giorgi Javakhishvili, also got involved in the argument.
The meeting was over disagreements about how to summarize the results of the October 26 election. Sioridze and Solomonia were unhappy with the way the commission was handling the issue.
