Officials in Ukraine claim that a successful attack on a Russian arsenal, which stored foreign-supplied weapons about 114 km away from their shared border, has been carried out.
Andriy Kovalevka, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, believes that a weapons arsenal in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast was attacked during the night of the 9th October.
Overnight, on 9 October, Russian authorities announced the drone attack that took place in Krasnodar Krai and Bryansk oblasts.
According to Kovalenko the 67th arsenal of Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of Russian Ministry of Defense was hit near Karachev, Bryansk Oblast.
The arsenal is located at 114 km from Ukraine’s border.
Kovalenko stated that the warehouse contained “ammunition from North Korea as well as KABs (guided air bombs).”
This incident follows the September attacks by Ukrainian forces against two major arsenals of missiles and shells located in Russia’s Tver oblast as well as a significant ammunition depot in Krasnodar Krai.
On the night of October 9, explosions were reported to have occurred in Bryansk Oblast. Social media accounts reported a fire with explosions.
Since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, combat drones are regularly entering Russian regions. This has resulted in destruction and casualties.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that these attacks originated in Ukraine, although Kyiv does not usually comment on such reports.
