**Thousands of Ukrainian Soldiers Return to Service**
Over 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers have returned to their units since November 29. This is after a new law took effect, allowing service members who left without permission to rejoin without facing charges.
The law only applies to those who left for the first time and gives amnesty until January 1, 2025. The Military Law Enforcement Service (VSP) says that around 3,000 soldiers have returned in just three days.
**Reasons for Unauthorized Absences**
There has been a big problem with soldiers leaving their units without permission. This is because of the long war and the stress it causes. Soldiers are getting combat fatigue and there’s no clear plan for those who were mobilized to serve.
**New Law Helps Soldiers Return**
A new law was passed on November 29, which allows soldiers who left for the first time to return without being charged. This has helped many soldiers return to their units. In fact, around 6,000 service members returned in November alone.
After President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the law, many more soldiers returned. Now, about 1,000 are returning every day. The new law also says that unit commanders must welcome back returning soldiers and give them their old benefits within 72 hours.
**Addressing a Big Problem**
There’s been a big increase in soldiers leaving without permission. Official statistics show this has gone up three times since the beginning of the year compared to last year. The government estimates that tens of thousands of soldiers have left without permission. This new law is trying to help them return and stay in the military.
