After Ukrainian drone attack, a key Russian military microelectronics factory halts production

Kremniy EL is a major Russian microelectronics producer that has halted its production after a attack by Ukraine on its Bryansk, Russia facilities on 19 October.
Ukraine uses to target Russian oil depots and military bases in order to disrupt the production and logistics of weapons, and to weaken Russia’s ability against Ukraine.
The company stated that “as a result a terrorist attack at night on the production and administration buildings of the plant the power supply was interrupted, special energy facilities were damaged, and production chains of were disrupted.”
The Ukrainian side has not made any comment on the attack. The photos and videos have been published by Russian Telegram channels such as Astra.

Kremniy EL, one of Russia’s largest microelectronics producers, dedicated 94% of its 2017 output to the Russian Ministry of Defense. It produces components for systems like the Pantsir missile system and Iskander air defense systems.
In recent years, the company has experienced significant growth and . The company has received $5.5 million in annual development funding from the since 2010. In 2014, Kremniy EL reported an eightfold increase in its production since 2000. By 2018, the company reported an additional 40% increase in production.
In August the company announced that it would invest 5 billion rubles (51 million dollars) in the production of microelectronics over the next year with the goal of doubling the product volume.
The plant is also involved in the development of new radar systems with active-phased arrays that are crucial for air defence, aircraft and naval applications.
In September 2023 and December 2023, Ukrainian drones already struck the Kremniy EL factory in Bryansk (Russia).
