**Russia Launches Large Drone Attack on Ukraine**
On December 14, Russia launched a large-scale drone attack on Ukraine. The Ukrainian military reported that 132 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were sent by Russia. However, not all of them made it to their target.
**Most Drones Neutralized or Lost**
Ukraine’s air defense systems successfully intercepted 58 out of the 132 drones launched by Russia. Another 72 Russian drones are believed to have been locationally lost, meaning they did not reach their intended targets. Only two drones returned to Russian territory.
**Wide-Scale Defense Efforts**
The defensive operations were carried out across multiple regions in Ukraine. The air defense systems were actively engaged in 11 Ukrainian oblasts (regional areas), including major cities like Kyiv and Odesa.
**Russia Continues Attacks on Energy Infrastructure**
Despite these efforts, Russia continues to attack Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on a daily basis. Since October 2022, Russia has launched over a thousand strikes on energy facilities, causing significant damage and disruptions to civilian life. The Ministry of Energy reported that 9 GW of generating capacity was lost due to the attacks this year alone.
**Recent Attacks on Critical Infrastructure**
On December 13, Russian troops launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Targets included energy facilities in several regions, with some reports indicating successful hits and “negative consequences.” Authorities have increased electricity consumption restrictions due to these attacks.
