Russia Claims New Missile Can’ Be Stopped, But Ukraine Says It’ Wrong

Ukrainian President said a video address on November 24 that there are that can stop Russia’s new intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM). This contradicts Russian President ‘s claim made just days earlier.

Russia first used the “Oreshnik” IRBM to attack Dnipro on November 21. Shortly after, Putin said there was no way to counter this new weapon. However, Zelensky stated that experts are analyzing the wreckage and working with allies to find a response.

“The has air defense systems capable of countering such ,” Zelensky said. He emphasized that Russia should feel consequences for its actions, especially when it comes to expanding the war.

Ukraine is working with international partners to come up with a joint response to this latest Russian escalation. This effort follows Ukraine’s first reported successful strike on a military target in Russia using U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles.

Since Putin announced the Oreshnik missile, experts have questioned its novelty. Some analysts even believe it’s on older Russian IRBM called the RS-26 Rubezh.
