Ukraine’s Air Force said they shot down 67 Russian drones overnight on February 8.
The drones targeted many parts of the country, including major cities like Kyiv and Kharkiv. They also attacked smaller towns in regions such as Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Zaporizhzhia.
The Ukrainian military used air defense systems to shoot down the drones. However, they lost track of 71 decoy drones that were launched alongside the combat drones. Luckily, there were no negative consequences from these decoys.
Russia has been launching daily drone attacks on Ukraine for a while now. These attacks often target critical infrastructure, leaving people without basic necessities like water and electricity.
This is not the first time Russia has used Shahed-type drones against Ukraine. In November 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian troops were launching about ten times as many drones than they did during the previous fall.
