**Albania Signs 10-Year Security Agreement with Ukraine**
On January 21, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a new security cooperation agreement. The deal was made at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The agreement states that Albania supports Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. It also says that this support does not mean Ukraine will automatically join NATO. Albania has been helping Ukraine with military and humanitarian aid since Russia invaded in 2022. This help will continue for the next 10 years.
Ukrainian President Zelensky thanked Albania for its support on social media. He said it would help Ukraine’s European integration goals, strengthen their position on the battlefield, and bring peace to Ukraine.
The agreement also means Albania will join a group helping Ukraine get US-made fighter jets. Albania will provide training in English for Ukrainian pilots and technicians.
This is not the first time Albania has worked with Ukraine. In February 2024, they signed a joint cooperation agreement. Just days ago, on January 19, Albania opened its first embassy in Ukraine in Kyiv.
