**Leader of “Strong Georgia” Speaks Out**
Aleko Elisashvili, a leader of the opposition group “Strong Georgia,” met with Alain Berset, Secretary-General of the Council of Europe. During their meeting, Elisashvili shared information about his own detention and that of 40 other individuals who were arrested during protests.
Elisashvili emphasized that these people need help. He pointed out that while he is a well-known politician, ordinary people have been beaten and tortured more brutally. Some are facing severe charges, including up to 15 years in prison. Elisashvili asked for rescue for these individuals.
He was satisfied with the meeting, saying that the Council of Europe officials were informed and showed great attention. They assured him that they would do everything possible to help the political prisoners escape imprisonment.
Elisashvili also criticized the government, “Georgian Dream,” for not punishing police officers who have committed brutality since the spring. He said that this approach is counterproductive and only serves to intimidate people like himself and others who oppose them.
