Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Emphasizes Need for Regional Stabilization in Syria
Ukraine‘s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called for full efforts to stabilize the region in Syria. He made this statement after Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime fell on December 8.
The Assad family had ruled Syria for 50 years. But opposition forces entered Damascus and took control of the city after a 10-day battle. This is a big loss for Russia, which had supported Assad for many years to gain access to certain areas in Syria.
Sybiha also warned other countries that support Russian President Vladimir Putin not to rely on him. He said that those who side with Putin will face the same fate as Assad and his regime.
In a post on X, Sybiha wrote: “Assad has fallen. This is what happens to dictators who trust in Putin. He always betrays those who count on him.”
