**EU Ambassador Criticizes Georgia’s Government**
The European Union’s Ambassador to Georgia, Paweł Herczyński, has spoken out against the country’s government. He said that Georgia is “in a very deep political crisis” and that the EU is working on introducing personal sanctions against those responsible for human rights violations and the breakdown of law and order.
**Violence and Intimidation**
Herczyński criticized the Georgian Dream authorities for ignoring the people’s voice and called on them to start talking to people. He said there was ongoing intimidation and violence, disproportionate use of force, and erosion of trust in the judicial system.
**EU Integration**
The Ambassador recalled that the EU had granted Georgia candidate status, but since then things have gotten worse. “When it comes to EU integration, we are at the lowest possible point,” he said.
**Sanctions**
Herczyński mentioned that the EU is discussing introducing personal sanctions against those responsible for violence and intimidation in Georgia. However, there is still no unanimity among EU member states.
**Support for Georgian People**
The Ambassador emphasized that the EU supports the people of Georgia and wants to see them succeed. He encouraged the authorities to start talking to people and find a way out of the current crisis.
**Concerns about Media Freedom**
Herczyński expressed concerns about media freedom in Georgia, citing the case of journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli who has been on hunger strike for over two months.
