**Russian Soldiers Wounded in Ukraine Receive Treatment in North Korea**
Russian soldiers who were wounded during the war in Ukraine are receiving treatment and rehabilitation in North Korea. This was revealed by Alexander Matsegora, Russia‘s ambassador to North Korea.
According to Matsegora, the wounded Russian soldiers are being treated for free in “the best hospitals and sanatoriums” in North Korea. The ambassador also said that hundreds of wounded Russian soldiers have been sent to North Korea for treatment.
**Russia and North Korea Strengthen Ties**
The relationship between Russia and North Korea has strengthened over the past three years. Both countries have aligned themselves against Western nations, causing concerns about international stability. In 2024, Russia and North Korea signed a strategic partnership agreement that includes trade, scientific, technical, and defense cooperation.
**North Korean Soldiers Sent to Ukraine**
In addition to providing medical treatment for Russian soldiers, North Korea has also sent its own troops to support Russian forces in Ukraine. Up to 12,000 North Korean soldiers were deployed in Russia’s Kursk Oblast last fall to counter a Ukrainian incursion.
**Russian President Putin Signs Mutual Defense Pact with Kim**
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a mutual defense pact with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in June 2024. This agreement deepened military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang, including the sharing of military equipment and technology.
