**People’s Rights Ignored in Georgia**
In a Facebook post, Ana Natsvlishvili, leader of “Strong Georgia”, reminds people that they were calm and patient for many years before rebelling. However, the government took away their rights and means to express themselves.
**Government Cuts Off Means of Expression**
According to Natsvlishvili, the government cancelled free and fair elections, turned parliament into a party bureau, subjugated media outlets, and made the court system favor its interests. The anti-corruption mechanism was also controlled by the ruling party. Despite public petitions and statements from citizens, their voices were ignored.
**Constitution Torn Apart**
Natsvlishvili highlights that even the constitution was torn apart by the government’s actions. Article 78 of the constitution, written in 2017, states that Georgia’s path is European. However, the “dream” (a reference to the ruling party) tore this fundamental document.
**People Have Right to Protect Constitutional Order**
When a government cancels everything and organizes a constitutional coup, Natsvlishvili argues that the people have both the right and obligation to protect and restore the constitutional order. This statement reflects the growing tensions in Georgia between the government and its citizens.
