Ana Natsvlishvili said that the Constitutional Court‘s decision on the “Transparency law” was a shameful chapter in the history of this country and its constitutional court. She also said that she had no doubt the Georgian people would rewrite the page and turn it to victory in the upcoming elections on October 26.
According to her, she said that the Constitutional Court was unable to protect Article 78 and didn’t do so.
“I am here to speak out against the shameful history of the Constitutional Court of Georgia. The Constitutional Court of Georgia continued today the path of the Russian government, and those judges that did not dare defend the Constitution of Georgia joined the list of 84 Russian Deputies who signed “Russian Law”. This is a shameful chapter in the history and proceedings of the constitutional court of this country. But I have no doubt the Georgian people, in the upcoming elections on October 26, will rewrite and turn this shameful chapter into a victory. The Constitutional Court was unable to protect Article 78 and denied tens and thousands of Georgian citizens and the unshakeable will that is recorded in the Constitution, that the future of Georgia is in the European Union. When the executive, legislative, and now judicial powers do not or cannot protect the country’s constitution, it is the citizens’ right and duty to protect it. This decision confirms, once again, that only the citizens of Georgia can save the European future for Georgia. And this day is coming very soon, on October 26. I am sorry for the Constitutional Court’s disgraceful cowardice. But I am glad that in this situation, exceptional judges made a decision that protected the Constitution,” said Natsvlishvili.
Information: The Constitutional Court of Georgia has not complied with the request for suspension of the law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence”. The court also recognized that the lawsuits submitted were partially admissible. This means that substantive discussions will start.
